England manager Gareth Southgate has said he is likely to be sacked if the Three Lions have a disastrous World Cup.

England have had a disastrous run ever since they lost on penalties to Italy at Wembley at the Euro 2020 tournament. .

They lost over the weekend to the Azurri that sealed their relegation from UEFA Nations League A to B.

Quizzed about his future, Southgate said that all depends on what happens at the world cup.

He said, “Ultimately, I will be judged on what happens at the World Cup.

“Contracts are irrelevant as managers can have three, four or five-year deals but you accept that if results are not good enough, it is time to go your separate ways.

“Why would I be any different? I am not arrogant enough to think my contract is going to protect me in any way.”
